OAHU (KHNL) - Defending Manoa Cup Champion, Alex Ching was eliminated from the tournament after losing to 2007 Cup Champion, Kurt Nino, 3 and 2 in the match play tournament.

The Manoa Cup is the longest running golf tournament in Hawaii and one of the longest running tournaments in the nation.

When the tournament began, there were 64 golfers, now just 8 golfers remain in contention for the 2009 Manoa Cup.

And Kurt Nino is one of those eight golfers that remain, after outplaying Ching.  Nino made 7 birdies, to Ching's 6 birdies and the difference in the match could easily be chalked up to his play on the green.

Nino was up 2 after the 13th hole and increased his lead to 3 after the 14th hole.

Both golfers halved the 15th, so it came down to a eight foot putt on 16 to keep the match going, but Ching missed the putt wide left to end the match.

Ching will be entering his second year at the University of San Diego, while Nino just graduated from the University of San Francisco.
