Manoa (KHNL) - After becoming the first UH track and field athlete to win a medal at the NCAA Championships in 25 years, Amber Kaufman returned home.

"Yeah, I'm definitely happy, I think Destiny Hooker and Elizabeth Patterson are in a league of their own. So you know, to break into the top two would've been really hard", said Kaufman.

Always humble, Kaufman's accomplishments speak for themselves. WAC Champion, best high jump mark in the nation this season and team leader.

"Everyone was jumping 6 feet, where in years past that wasn't the case, so that was pretty cool. Just to be in the top 3 and to jump 186 and then they went higher. It's just nice to feel like I belong", said Kaufman.

No doubt, she belongs.  So does Annett Wichmann and Emily Sheppard.

Wichmann, competing in her fourth NCAA Championships, finished 7th in the Heptathlon, while Sheppard finished 10th in the high jump.  Wichmann and Sheppard are both UH seniors.

A truly remarkable career for Wichmann and Sheppard, while there's more good things to come for Kaufman.
