WAIKIKI (KHNL) - Saturday is not only opening night for one of the hottest groups on the stage, it's also a special homecoming for a Hawaii girl, who is also the lead singer of the girl group The Pussycat Dolls.

It's been a year since Nicole Scherzinger has seen her family and friends in Hawaii. She tells us she's looking forward to them seeing her perform live Saturday night in Honolulu for the first time.

With her dazzling moves, unique looks and an angelic voice, Scherzinger has definitely made it to the big time. But she still remembers her humble beginnings in Hawaii.

"I need to be home, I've missed home way too long," she said.

Home for Scherzinger is here on Oahu, where she was born and raised up until she was six years old.

She tells us she's been back home to visit her family once in awhile, but this visit is extra special.

"It's just amazing to be able to share what I do with my family, many of them have never seen my live show, so this is the first time for them, so I'm really excited," she said.

Excited since coming to Hawaii to perform has always been in the back of her mind, but never happened until now.

"I don't know because we've been just going and going and going and I guess it was the right time, and now I'm just so grateful for all the sponsors and everyone who brought us here," she said.

And here is where she plans to stay after the concert is done.

"I'm gonna stay here in Hawaii with my family for awhile and just get filled up with all the love and the healing and the aloha spirit from my family, I don't get to see them very often, so just hang out with them, cruise, talk story and go beach," she said.

For Scherzinger, coming home never felt so good.

The 30-year-old Scherzinger says she hopes to make the transition to the big screen, doing some acting as well as continuing her successful singing career.
