MANOA (KHNL) - For a second straight year, Amber Kaufman, Annett Wichmann and Emily Sheppard are heading to the NCAA National Track and Field championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Last weekend Sheppard became only the second UH track and field athlete who has competed in all four NCAA regionals during her college career. This year she finished tied for 5th, but qualifies for the championships, after receiving an at-large bid.
Now competing for the final time in her UH career, she's focused on bettering her 6th place finish from one year ago.
"I think my first goal would be to make finals since that really is important, and after that, I'd really like to place in the top eight and hopefully better my personal best of 6 feet, so I'd like to jump that or higher," said Sheppard.
Emily, Amber and Annett all fly out this Sunday to Arkansas. Competition begins on Wednesday, June 10th.
