Kaufman wins high jump at NCAA West Regionals

EUGENE, OREGON (KHNL) - Amber Kaufman wins the NCAA West Regional Championship in the high jump, after clearing six feet, one and a half inches. Kaufman becomes the first UH athlete to win an event at the West Regionals in school history.

With her first place finish, Kaufman now advances to the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas on June 10th.    Joining Kaufman at the NCAA Championships will be senior, Annett Wichmann.  The Jena, Germany native finished third in the Javelin, with a throw of 163 feet and one inch.

Wichmann will also compete for her fourth straight year at the NCAA Championships in the Heptathlon.    Senior, Emily Sheppard finished tied for 5th in the high jump and freshman, Kai Schmidt finished 12th in the Javelin.
