MANOA (KHNL) - Jed Stefan did nothing but frustrate the University of Hawaii Rainbow baseball batters on Thursday night.

The freshman pitcher for Louisiana Tech struck out a career high 12 batter leading the Bulldogs to a 5-1 win over UH in game one of a four game series.

Hawaii pitcher Jayson Kramer pitched a complete game but took the loss after giving up five runs, two of them earned, seven hits and four strikeouts.

La Tech scored their first run in the 2nd inning thanks to an Alex Williams RBI single which scored Chris Kersten from 2nd. In the 4th inning Mark Threlked added three more runs to their lead with a 3-run homerun.

Hawaii finally got on the board off a Ryan Morford solo homerun in the 8th inning, but that was as close as they would get.

Game 2 of the series continues on Friday at 6:35pm.
