KAILUA (KHNL) - A 47-year-old man is dead after being shot twice at a residence on Oneawa Street. The incident happened around 9:30 PM Tuesday.

Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Honolulu police arrested a 45-year-old man in Kahaluu sometime before 11:00 PM.

Police say the shooting occurred  when a resident went to answer the door. Neighbors said that they heard two gunshots, followed by a car speeding away.

"The resident who lives in the residence answered a knock on the door, all I know at this time is that a 47-year-old man was shot twice in the residence" said Major Frank Fujii of HPD.

"I'm kind of surprised it happened so close to us. I didn't hear anything so it's a real shock to me and my family and I'm sure the rest of the neighborhood" said neighbor Tom Murray.

The motive in the shooting is under investigation.
