HONOLULU (KHNL) - A 70-year-old man, accused of a deadly shooting at a Honolulu senior housing complex, pleaded not guilty Thursday.

Melvin Yoshida is charged with murder and a firearms offense. He remains in custody, unable to post $500,000 bail.

Police say the suspect admitted he shot Clare Silva, 54, in her apartment Easter Sunday. The victim's friends say he wanted to be in a relationship with Silva, but she refused.

Yoshida's trial is tentatively set for June.
