PEARL CITY (KHNL) - They claim to give your plants the exact amount of water they need while you are away but do Aqua Globes Watering Bulbs really work? Going on vacation, but don't want your plants to die while your away? Aqua Globes claim to be an attractive solution for automatic houseplant watering.

But do they work?

"I saw the aqua globes on a tv commercial and I found them at Walmart so I bought 4 of them," gardener Ron Joannis said.

Ron thought it would be a great idea for his outdoor garden. You're supposed to fill the globes with water but they're very thin, and then you just stick it in.

"I find them very difficult to fill them up with water. And a lot of them get plugged up with dirt. I would pull it out there would be some dirt so I would tap it along the side here to try to knock the dirt out and the stem would break right off, they're very delicate," Joannis said.

Would you trust your plant's life in the hands of these glass globes? "I've come by three, four weeks later and the Aqua globes are still full," Joannis said.

And a set of 4 goes for $14.99. "As far as function, I would give them a 'D'," Joannis said.

"The concept is to be able to water your plants when your not here. And so far its kind of failed to do that," Joannis said.

But one thing they can do is add beauty to your plant, but again, beauty is all relative.
