MANOA (KHNL) - The University of Hawaii Rainbow baseball team got the Western Athletic Conference season off to a great start with a 3-0 shutout of San Jose State.

Jayson Kramer picked up his 2nd win in five decisions pitching 8.0 innings while giving up six hits and striking out two Spartan batters.

Greg Garcia got things going offensively for Hawaii in the fourth inning with a leadoff triple, before coming home off an RBI single by Ryan Morford.

The Rainbows took their 1-0 lead into the 7th inning, which is where Vinnie Catricala added the insurance runs in the form of a two run homerun to extend the lead to 3-0.

Hawaii improves to 17-9 on the year while San Jose State falls to 19-6. The two play again on Saturday in a double header that begins at 3pm.
