Second suspect arrested for Chinatown shooting

HONOLULU (KHNL) - Police on Tuesday night arrested a second suspect in connection with a deadly shooting in Chinatown.

Sources tell KHNL News 8 he is Zorro Ramon Rye. He is now in police custody at the main cellblock.

His arrest comes as the first suspect in this case is formally charged with murder.

Officers arrested Iosefa Pasene on suspicion of murder Monday night.

Investigators believe the 21-year-old is a member of a San Francisco-based gang and was one of two gunmen Saturday.

Police say two men got out of a car, confronted 35-year-old Joseph Peneueta at the corner of North Pauahi and River Streets, and opened fire.

Peneueta was shot multiple times and died.

Court records state that multiple witnesses identified Pasene as one of the shooters.

His bail is set at one million dollars.
