Police arrest shooting suspect in Waimanalo

HONOLULU (KHNL) - Honolulu police arrested a murder suspect late Tuesday evening after a massive manhut.  They arrested Albert "Toi" Nofoa just before 9:00 pm Tuesday evening in Waimanalo. 

He is suspected of shooting and killing 25-year-old Royal Kaukani, his former girlfriend, Tuesday afternoon in Ewa near her home.

31-year-old Nofoa is now under arrest and in custody at the main police cellblock, where he arrived just before 10:00 pm.

They had launched a manhunt for Nofoa, Kaukani's estranged boyfriend, after the shooting.  Police tell us he is the main person of interest in this case.

A portion of Kalanianaole Highway was closed while they investigated, but has since been reopened.
