HONOLULU (KHNL/ K5) -- This year will be the 3rd Annual "Laughs For Lions" comedy benefit show at the Mamiya Theatre (St. Louis/Chaminade) on August 9th. This is the largest fundraiser for the statewide Lions organization. There are 2 comic headliners coming in from the Mainland this year - both veterans of Leno, Letterman, HBO, etc. You can check-out all the show info on the website: www.LaughsForLions.com.
Besides a Vegas-quality show every year, there will be a unique celebrity raffle, featuring props, clothing, and personal items from the who's-who of the Hollywood and sports world, such as Clint Eastwood, Tom Cruise, Jennifer Aniston, & Tiger Woods in years past. This year is no different, with items in from Michael Jordan, Nicolas Cage, Adam Sandler, Sharon Stone, Jack Nicklaus, Hillary Swank, and items from "Star Trek", "Harry Potter", "Chicago", "C-S-I", and more.
Paul Drewes and Diane Ako helped model some of the special vintage celebrity estate items this year: Diane is shown here wearing a mink cape that was worn by actress Grace Kelly (Princess Grace of Monaco); Paul is wearing a grey sweater worn by actor Nicholas Cage in The Weatherman.
The Kamehameha Lions Club Foundation is a 501(c)3, and 100% of the profits from this event go right back to the community for youth scholarships and Lions programs to benefit the blind and disabled.
There are NO door sales the night of the event - all tickets are pre-sold. Check out the website, www.LaughsForLions.com, to buy tickets.
