KONA, Big Island (KHNL) - One, two and third time's the charm for Target who celebrated its third groundbreaking ceremony here in Hawaii. This time the location for their newest retail store is on the Big Island in Kona Commons.

"We are thrilled to be here and begin bringing to life our vision of joining the Kailua-Kona community," said Rob Parke, district team leader for Target.

The company with 47 stores nationwide is known for providing shoppers with an innovative array of current trends and styles at affordable prices.

Construction in Kona on the 160,000 square foot store is expected to begin in July. Dick Pacific will be in charge of the construction with a completion date set for May 2009.

"With the store's construction now officially underway, we're looking for enthusiastic and energetic applicants to join our Target team," said Parke

The Minneapolis based company plans to employ 250-350 employees to fill positions at all three store locations. Currently on Oahu there are two Target stores under construction, Salt Lake and Kapolei.

Both stores are scheduled to open in March 2009.
