UH Sea Grant donates award-winning books to Hawaii's schools

Updated:

HONOLULU (KHNL) - To celebrate the International Year of the Reef, the University of Hawaii Sea Grant College Program has donated more than 100 copies of its book Reef and Shore Fishes of the Hawaiian Islands to secondary school libraries statewide.

The award-winning book, authored by Dr. John Randall, marks the culmination of 47 years of study.

By donating the books, UH Sea Grant hopes to increase awareness and inspire future generations of marine scientists.

"This colorful book will be a useful resource to Hawaii students," said Donna Shiroma, Department of Education School Library Services Administrator. "We thank the University of Hawaii Sea Grant College Program for their generous donation."

UH Sea Grant will donate the books to private and charter schools in the upcoming weeks.
