HONOLULU (KHNL) - A group of low-income housing residents is suing the city of Honolulu, saying it wants to recover hundreds of thousands of dollars in rental overpayments.

The plaintiffs live in the Westlake Apartments, which is a city-owned and managed complex in Salt Lake. They accuse city officials of miscalculating federally-mandated utility allowances, and falsifying reports for more than a decade.

A city spokesperson couldn't immediately comment, saying he hasn't seen the lawsuit.
