KOOLAU, Kauai (KHNL) -- A couple died Sunday morning in a car accident that occurred at the "hair pin" turn on Koolau Rd.
According to police, 56-year-old Kilauea resident Paul Goodrich was driving a 1994 Porsche convertible at around 8:40 a.m. with his 47-year-old wife Laurie-Ann when he lost control of the car. They went off the road, slid down a slope and struck a tree.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say speed may be a contributing factor in the crash.
This is the sixth and seventh traffic fatalities on Kauai so far this year.
