HONOLULU (KHNL) -- Bed and breakfast operations took center stage at a Honolulu City Council committee meeting Thursday.
The zoning committee heard testimony on several measures concerning bed and breakfast homes on Oahu. One bill would make it easier for the city to enforce laws relating to B-and-Bs, while another would establish a permitting system for new businesses.
"They are renting the neighborhood," Mollie Foti, Kailua resident, testified. "Well, the neighborhood doesn't make any money. It's only the operator that makes money. The rest of us, we're the background. We're the victims."
Committee members say it will take at least three months to come up with final versions of the bills.
