Hawaii Kai Grocery Store to End Use of Plastic Bags

Posted:

HAWAII KAI (KHNL) -- A Hawaii Kai grocery store is taking steps to protect the environment and marine life.

Kale's Natural Foods will be the first grocery store in Hawaii to end the use of plastic bags this week.  Kale's will run out of plastic bag stocks and will not be ordering any more.

"Kale's Natural Foods is committed to environmental responsibility," said store owner Kale Gibb.  "By taking this step, we hope to start a trend that someday will be standard practice among retailers."

Customers are encouraged to bring their own reusable bags and boxes recycled from stock.
