Photo by Paul Miyasaki (Hilo, Hawaii)HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A storm continues to linger above the state. Heavy rain and thunderstorms will be possible through Friday and localized flooding is also possible. Drier conditions are due back next week.
The big storm which has threatened the state since Wednesday is slowly moving west dropping heavy rain with thunderstorms over parts of the state. A flash flood watch remains in effect for all islands until late Friday night.
A high surf warning remains in effect until 6:00 AM Saturday. Surf along east facing shores of Kauai and Oahu will be 10 to 15 feet through Friday night. The surf will decrease below advisory levels late Friday, but will remain elevated into the weekend.
Unsettled weather conditions are expected to continue through the weekend with locally heavy rains and thunderstorms possible through Saturday. Strong trade winds will last through the weekend along with above average rainfall.
Rainfall is expected to taper off as the new work week begins, but will be higher than normal for windward areas of all islands.
