HONOLULU (HAWAIINEWSNOW) - Maui County reports its 20th fatal motor vehicle crash for this year.
The accident happened Tuesday night at 2:19 a.m. on Wainee Street, 300 feet North of Papalaua Street in Lahaina.
Edyngton Naki Jr., lost control of the vehicle and encroached into the opposing lane. The car climbed a curb and collided into a tree. The 19 year old Lahaina resident was pinned within his vehicle, as it caught fire. According to officials, the young man died at the scene.
The use of alcohol and drugs, as well as the use of seatbelts is still under investigation.
