KANEOHE (KHNL) - Big time Broadway hits the Windward side this weekend.  West Side Story lights up the stage at Paliku Theatre for a four-week run.

Theatre goers who check out West Side Story can expect colorful costumes and dazzling dance performances.

"We have dancers choreographed by Marcelo Pacleb of 24-7 Dance Force and so the dancing is phenomenal, there's so much heat in this production, there's heat coming off the stage," said Tom Holowach, manager of the Paliku Theatre.

This intimate theatre is the perfect venue to take in this emotional play.  Holowach said although it only seats three hundred people, it allows people to really connect with what's going on on-stage

West Side Story is built on Romeo and Juliet, it's a tragic love story.  Theatre goers can expect to be carried through a wide range of emotions.

"I've had people after say after seeing Miss Saigon, that they were so close to the action that it sucked them in and involved them," said Holowach.  "I've had men tell me this is the first time they've ever cried at the show."

Theatre legend Ron Bright is directing the show, so you can be sure this musical is nothing short of perfection.

A twelve piece orchestra helps to bring this classic production to life.  But don't expect to see them, that's because they are hidden beneath the stage.  This is the only theatre in the State where the melodic music from beneath all the action.

State of the art equipment and top notch talent makes this play a production worth seeing.  The Paliku Theatre is located on the Windward Community College Campus.

The show begins on Sept. 26th and runs every weekend through October 25th
