PEARLRIDGE (KHNL) - Thousands of bears were spotted at Pearlridge Shopping Center Saturday.
But no need to call animal control, it was all an attempt to set a record, and benefit a number of hawaii charities.
Thousands of teddy bears were piled up in the middle of the mall.
Big and small, new and gently used donations were dropped off, and will go toward setting a Guinness World Record, as well as provide a little happiness and comfort for children who have suffered child abuse.
"Most are going to abused children but a lot of them are going to agencies who work with children and families and are stressed and need help", said Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii spokesperson Aileen Deese.
The teddy bear round-up has been held over the past dozen years.
It was sponsored by Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii and the Child Abuse Prevention Planning Council.
Now, not only did they beat the old record of nearly 6-thousands bears, they topped the ten-thousand mark with donations.
