A Flash Flood Watch is now in effect statewide as the threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms increases for Sunday and the Presidents Day holiday. A surface trough over Maui will combine with a potent upper level disturbance that will drop in from the northwest and bring moist and unstable conditions. Be prepared for the possibility of flash flooding through Monday.
There's also a Winter Weather Advisory through Monday afternoon for the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island.
At the beach, surf will get a small boost for north and west shores Sunday, with a larger swell expected to arrive Tuesday night near advisory levels. No marine warnings are in effect.
