MANOA (KHNL) - You've heard of Shoebox Greetings. But not like this! These little pieces of art can literally give themselves a hand!

This is the 10th time the University of Hawaii Art Gallery has put on this International Shoebox Sculpture." It features 141 sculptures from around the world, including some well known Hawaii artists like Kailua artist Mark Chai who made this chrysalis.

Art Gallery Director Lisa Yoshihara said it's a great way to see the world through miniature sculptures. "You see all kinds of materials here: ceramic, glass, fiber, kinetic work, carved wood. It's the personal expression, the universal expression, or political expression. It's fun. This show is the full breadth of what you can do with sculpture."

The free exhibit opened Sunday March 1 and continues through April 9. From here it travels to venues around the state, the country, and Korea.
