The Smithsonian Museum is hosting an exhibit about Kaho'olawe. The exhibit opened this week. It details the history of the island from pre contact days all the way to the Navy's current clean up effort. Hawaiian leaders say they're excited about the exhibit.
"To bring national attention to Kaho'olawe again and further the cause for Native Hawaiians, that's the significance for me," says Dr. Noa Emmett Alulu.
The display was put together with the help of the Bishop Museum. It runs through September 2.
