The Dream Team
HONOLULU (KHNL) -- Farrington High School Chemistry students were recently recognized for their outstanding environmental action plans to protect the earth.
The students, known as the Dream Team, were among 16 school teams from 12 states recognized for the "Water Works" Challenge, a program created by Lexus and Scholastic to educate and empower students to take action to improve the environment.
The Dream Team organized beach clean ups at Sand Island Beach, helped reduce the amount of debris and raised awareness in the community about water pollution.
Teacher advisor Bebi Davis led her team to investigate the impact of marine debris on marine life and humans.
The Dream Team received $3,000 in scholarships and grants as well as an invitation to participate in the Final Challenge for a chance to win one of two $75,000 grand prizes.
