HALEAKALA NATIONAL PARK, Maui (KHNL) - The body of a missing hiker was recovered in the upper pools above Makahiku Falls Thursday morning.

Rescue crews found the body of 27-year-old Edward Pedrick who apparently jumped 40 feet into a rain-swollen stream during a hike last weekend.

A unified command search involving National Park Rangers, Maui County Fire Dept. Rescue 10, Hana Fire Dept., Hana P.D. and a Maui County Dive Team has located Pedrick's body in the same pool from which he disappeared.

Officials say apparently the water pressure from the stream held him under.
