U2 Plays A Great Concert

HONOLULU (KHNL) - The rock band U2 took center stage at Aloha Stadium Saturday night.  It's been more than twenty years, since U2 performed here.  Fans we talked say it's all worth the wait.

A colorful crowd lined up outside the stadium.  "I thought I got here early and I was late. I'm the 173rd in line," Derek Yuen said.   Each hoping to get first dibs on a spot on the concert floor.  "If you push and shove and you're inside, you can get to first row," explained Alexandra Richardson of Hawaii Kai.

Fans were here early, really early. Some fans got to the stadium as early as 2 p.m. Thursday.  Even U2 lead singer Bono showed up.  Not really it was just a fan, but the band's production crew was here.

Inside the stadium, work was underway to put together this massive production.  It took sixteen containers and three 747 planes to haul 800 tons of equipment.  "It's the only time an American state sees the U2 outdoors show," explained Jake Berry, the production director.

Meanwhile fans battled blustery conditions outside. "Minus the body sand blasting. We've had quite the wind storm, but even though, we've had a great time today," described, Debi and Dino Martelli from Canada.

And fans say it was worth it-- this was the last concert of the tour.
