Duane "Dog" Chapman in February 2006Sep 14, 2006 09:45 AM
HONOLULU (KHNL) - "Dog: The Bounty Hunter" star Duane "Dog" Chapman and two of his associates were arrested early Thursday morning by federal marshals in Honolulu. One of those arrested was Chapman's son Leland, who also appears in the popular A&E cable TV show.
The arrests apparently came in the wake of an extradition request by the Mexican government. In 2003, Chapman was jailed in Mexico after he went into the country in pursuit of cosmetics heir Andrew Luster. Luster had fled into Mexico after being charged with rape.
A spokesperson for Chapman issued this statement:
"This is obviously a very upsetting time for the Chapman family. Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman is a true modern-day hero. He arrests the bad guys - he is definitely not one of them. He shall be vindicated."
