Obama Lists $1.9 Million Book Deal Advance on Disclosure Form

WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. Senator Barack Obama's salary pales in comparison to the 1.9 million-dollar book deal advance he lists on his financial disclosure form.

The Chicago Democrat earned just over 60-thousand dollars from the state of Illinois last year and about 32-thousand for his work at the University of Chicago Law School.

Obama was born in Hawaii and is a graduate of Punahou School.

The report says about 200-thousand-dollars of the advance will be donated to charity and that the three-book deal was approved by the Senate Ethics Committee in January.

Obama also reported a 370-thousand-dollar advance for "Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance," which was published previously.

He says that advance includes royalties on sales of an audio version of the book.

The report details finances from last year, before Obama became a U-S senator.
