
HONOLULU (AP) -
The East-West Center says it has raised close to a quarter of a million dollars to help aid victims of the south Asia tsunamis.
Officials say the $235,000 collected since last week will be distributed to relief organization working directly with tsunami victims.
"When the story dies a little but the needs continue we want to be able to continue our help in the most efficient and useful way," said Susan Kreifels of the East-West Center.
Also, former President's George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton are appearing in a public service announcement advising those who wish to donate to the tsunami relief effort first check a listing of reputable agencies.
