(Honolulu) -- Dangerously high surf persisted for a second day on the east and north shore of all islands Saturday, but lost most of its punch on Sunday.

Meanwhile the cleanup is under way for residents of homes in windward O'ahu that were damaged during the two days of unusually large surf which began Thursday night. Because of the extreme northeast angle of the 20 - 25 foot swell, homes from Hauula to Kailua experienced water damage from waves that crashed onto beaches and rock walls. Many residents in the area say it's the biggest surf they've seen in over a decade or more.
