USS Abraham Lincoln in port for Hawaii visit

PEARL HARBOR (HawaiiNewsNow) - The aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln with 5,000 sailors and staff aboard will arrive in Hawaii Thursday for a port visit while returning from a six-month deployment supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

USS Abraham Lincoln is the flagship of the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, which worked alongside coalition partners in the Persian Gulf near Afghanistan.

The strike group and embarked Carrier Air Wing 2 successfully flew more than 8,300 sorties and completed more than 23,500 flying hours, of which, more than 3,600 sorties and almost 11,000 hours were flown in support of U.S. and coalition ground forces.

Traveling 60,000 miles over the course of six months, Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group played a key role supporting our nation's Maritime Strategy.

USS Abraham Lincoln left her homeport of Everett, Washington, Sept. 7, 2010 and will depart Hawaii for San Diego, with a final homecoming in its homeport in late March.
