UH advising of potential heavy traffic for Saturday commencement

MANOA (HawaiiNewsNow) – The University of Hawaii is advising people who plan on attending Saturday's commencement exercises to be aware of traffic congestion related to the event. The event often causes backups on H1 at University Avenue. Attendees are advised to arrive early.

Commencement exercises begin at 9:00 AM Saturday in the Stan Sheriff Center. The student procession begins at 8:30 AM. Doors open at 7:45 AM and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is free and open to the public.

Free parking will be available in the lower campus parking structure, which will open at 6 AM. Parking shuttle service will also be provided. The shuttle buses are wheelchair accessible and run a continuous route from the Biomedical Science Building to Krauss Circle with stops at the following locations:

  • Biomedical Science Building
  • Moore Hall
  • Kennedy Theatre
  • Physical Science Building
  • Art Building
  • Krauss Circle
  • Kuykendall Hall
  • Watanabe Hall
  • Jefferson Hall
  • Center for Korean Studies
  • Biomedical Science Building
