HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - In a close game from start to finish, the University of Hawaii Warriors move to 6-6 and one game away from a bowl bid. The Warriors have won four straight games and need a win over Wisconsin to make it to the Hawaii Bowl at the Aloha Stadium.
Warrior quarterback Bryant Moniz threw for 366 yards and Kealoha Pilares scored two touchdowns in the victory over the Midshipmen
The Navy coaching staff has strong ties to the University of Hawaii with head coach Ken Niumataloloho being from Laie and played quarterback at the University of Hawaii and offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Ivin Jasper also being a former UH quarterback.
A possible invitee to the Hawaii Bowl is Southern Methodist University who is bowl eligible for the first time since 1984. SMU's head coach is former Warrior coach June Jones who has been offered a two year extension on his contract at SMU. After a 1-11 first season, coach Jones has led the Mustangs to a 7-5 season.
