Epil-Stop

A vintage Does It Work? It's a product you've seen on television for the past couple of years. You spray it on, wipe it off and wipe away the hair. News 8's Lyle Galdeira puts the Epil-Stop to the test.

You see it just about every time you turn on the TV. The infomercial that makes hair removal look like magic.

"I'm thrilled to introduce Epil-Stop. The six in one citrus hair remover that's totally pain free. And talk about easy to use, you just spray it on and simply wipe away the hair. In fact, if you can use hair spray, you can use Epil-Stop."

That infomercial made hair removal look so simple and easy. But as always we want to know, Does It Work?

This is what you get when you purchase the Epil-Stop system. Two bottles of the liquid spray and a roll-on. Jocelyn Roberts and Patrick Freitas, two of the wonderful support staff at News 8 and K5 The Home Team, have volunteered to help us.

Jocelyn hasn't shaved her legs in a week and a half. Following the enclosed directions, she sprays Epil-Stop on her leg. Then waits four to five minutes for the liquid to penetrate. And as she's waiting...Epil-Stop is making a mess, running down her leg. When the times up, Jocelyn dabs and wipes the area as instructed. And while some of the hair does come off, a lot of it is still on her leg.

Now, Patrick gives it a try. He's got plenty of hair. He douses his leg with a good amount of Epil-Stop and waits five minutes. He dabs, he wipes, but only some of the hair comes off. So what do our volunteers think of Epil-Stop?

"I don't think it worked very well. I tried it for the amount of time that it said to try it for. I believe that if you left it on longer maybe it would take some off. It does tend to take some of it off but not all of it. I would still have to shave the rest of it off," says Patrick.

"On the infomercial it looks like the hair comes right off like you're taking off a shirt, or like you're taking off a sweater. But it seemed to come off just in little pieces," says Jocelyn.

You can purchase the Epil-Stop system for around 30 dollars. But you might want to use the money instead on a nice dinner and a good razor. Click here to go to the Epil-Stop website.

If you have a product you'd like Lyle to put to the test send him an e-mail with your suggestion.
