    For the first time, Ilima-Lei Macfarlane will defend her Bellator flyweight belt on June 29th against Alejandra Lara. And for the first time, the Honolulu native will be headlining a Bellator main event. “I’m super honored that Bellator trusted me to headline this event, especially when their are other women on the card, and other fighters who could easily headline the card,” Macfarlane said.

    The Rainbow Wahine basketball team will head to the ninth island for the second-straight season to take part in this year’s Dual in the Desert. Hawaii will compete against the likes of Florida, Kansas, Northwestern, UNLV, Utah, Washington State and Wichita State in Las Vegas on December 19-21.

The list includes: Jimmy Aiona (basketball) Roy Chong (football) Earl Galdeira (football) Leilani Okuda (softball) Patrick Tanibe (basketball) Ray Verdonck (wrestling) Frank White (football) Hide Yamashita (baseball/softball).
