If you've got some outdoor activities this weekend, heads up. A low-level trough will be moving over the islands from east to west, bringing a chance of heavy rain and localized thunderstorms, especially for windward and mauka areas. Be on the lookout for flood advisories, which may be issued as bands of showers move through each island. Drier conditions should return Monday morning.
Surf is very quiet for now, with no significant swells expected this weekend. A small north-northwest swell could come in Monday, with a larger north swell arriving late Tuesday.
Hurricane Lane is forecast to pass just south of the islands around the middle of next week. It's still too early to tell what effects it will have on our weather, but humidity levels will likely increase around Wednesday as tropical moisture around Lane reaches our area.
