HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 91-year-old was seriously injured Wednesday after the vehicle she was driving veered off the road, struck a metal guardrail and flipped over in Waipahu.
Police said the crash happened about 1:20 p.m. when the driver ― operating a Toyota sedan ― was headed east on Farrington Highway near Waiawa Road.
Officers said the vehicle veered off the road “for unknown reasons,” hit the westbound off-ramp of the H-1 Freeway and the guardrail before flipping over.
The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle.
She was initially taken to the hospital in critical condition, but was subsequently upgraded to serious condition.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, police said.
