Speed, alcohol appear to be factors in deadly overnight crash, police say

MILILANI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man is dead after a motorcycle crash overnight in Mililani. Police suspect speed and alcohol were contributing factors.

According to police, it happened just before 9 p.m. Friday near Lanikuhana Ave. and Kuahelani Ave.

A 31-year-old man driving a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle was heading west on Lanikuhana when he lost control and climbed the curb.

The driver was ejected, struck an overhead street light pole and was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unknown if he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

This is already Oahu’s 12th traffic fatality of 2019 compared to nine this time last year.

The man’s identity has not yet been released.
