HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii News Now is learning new details into a crash that left one woman dead over the weekend.

The crash happened around 1:45 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Liliha Street and N. Vineyard Boulevard.

It claimed the life of 32-year-old Brianne Lee. Police say speed and alcohol were factors.

The accident was almost avoided, but instead, the worst-case scenario happened.

According to police sources, the man believed to have been behind the wheel — 20-year-old Ken Aisek — was pulled over just prior to the crash.

Sources say Aisek ran a red light and committed other traffic violations, prompting an officer to stop Aisek just moments before.

But when that officer went to call dispatch at police headquarters, sources say Aisek sped off, fleeing from police.

Shortly after he fled is when the deadly crash occurred.

Aisek appeared in court Tuesday on a previous, unrelated warrant.

He has not yet been charged in the Liliha crash.
