KAHULUI, (HawaiiNewsNow) -Heavy rain slammed parts of the state on Tuesday, including Maui, where crews are still cleaning up the mess left behind by the rain.

The state Department of Transportation is working to clear off Hana Highway at mile marker 11 after heavy rain triggered a landslide.

The rain also caused some dangerous driving conditions on Hana Highway before Airport Road, where vehicles plowed through deep puddles along the side of the road.

County officials also closed Baldwin Beach Park due to flooding and muddy conditions. However, lightning forced crews to postpone cleanup, officials said.

The Lahaina Aquatic Center is also closed for safety reasons.

A flash flood watch was in effect, but that has since been dropped.
