HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Large groups of students threatening to fight prompted a significant police presence in McCully on Friday evening.
A Honolulu Police Department official said the students ― about 20 in all ― were from Kaimuki High and other nearby campuses.
Police have been in the area for the past several days to disperse groups of students threatening to fight.
On Friday afternoon, the groups were larger. It was unclear if any students were taken into custody, but police did stop a number of youth.
The incident slowed traffic in the area, including on Kapiolani Boulevard near McCully Shopping Center.
