HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warrior basketball team cruised to a 75-54 victory over Cal Poly Thursday night at the Stan Sheriff Center, improving to 6-4 in Big West Conference play.
Drew Buggs scored a season high 17 points and dished out eight assists to lead the ‘Bows to it’s 15th win of the season. Dawson Carper came off the bench and added a career-high 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting.
Hawaii held Cal Poly to just 27 percent shooting in the first half the Warriors jumped out to an early 15-point lead that they would not surrender.
With less than five minutes left in the fourth quarter while ahead 63-46, Warrior forward Jack Purchase drilled a three-pointer to tie Zane Johnson's all-time mark of 180 three-pointers at UH. He finished with five points and a game-high eight rebounds.
The Warriors will host UC Riverside on Saturday, February 16. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. HT.
