Flash flood warning expires for Maui as heavy rain subsides

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The flash flood warning that was issued for Maui has expired.

At 1:35 p.m. Thursday, radar showed heavy rains over the slopes of the West Maui mountains. Heavy rain was also falling along the windward slopes of Haleakala, from Paia to Hana.

Locations in the warning included Kahului, Honokohau, Lahaina, Paia, Hana and Kipahulu.

A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring in streams, roads or low-lying areas.
