HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Although it may sometimes feel like Honolulu has the worst traffic, there are plenty other cities that are even more congested.
A recent report from transportation analytics firm INRIX ranked Honolulu the 18th most congested city in the U.S. and 111th in the world.
To obtain the data, researchers analyzed traffic around the world for more than 200 cities across 38 countries in 2018.
According to the study, drivers wasted an average of 92 hours in traffic, costing an average of $1,282 per driver.
Last year, Honolulu was ranked 19th in the U.S. and 116th in the world. But you may remember 2012, when it was ranked the absolute worst city for traffic in the U.S., even topping Los Angeles. Over the years, Honolulu has moved down the list.
The most congested city, according to the report, was Boston, where drivers spent 164 hours in gridlock.
Washington, D.C., Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Seattle took the next top spots.
