HAWAII ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - County officials across the state want everyone to stay safe this weekend as severe weather threatens the state.

To ensure no one gets in the way of danger, county officials have decided to close nearly all beaches and state parks.

Campsites on Oahu closed Saturday afternoon. Beaches on Hawaii Island will close at midnight and remain closed until further notice.

On Kauai, all north and west-facing beach parks from Kekaha to Anahola are closed until further notice.

Maui county says at least 100 county workers are standing by to respond to toppled trees and downed power lines.

County leaders advise residents to stay home, stay safe and listen to local authorities in the event coastal evacuations are needed.
