HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Wahine softball team opened its 2019 campaign with a dominant performance over Georgia State, 8-0 Thursday night at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
The ‘Bows were led by sixth-year senior pitcher Brittany Hitchcock who fired a one-hit shutout in her return to the field after a season-ending injury last year. She also struck out five batters.
Hawaii opened the scoring on a Callee Heen two-run home run followed by a two-run double down the leftfield line to drive in both pinch runner Jennifer Iseri and Sissy Pantastico.
Georgia State starter Emily Soles gave up five runs on four hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
The Hawaii Paradise Classic continues with five games on tap for Friday, Feb. 8 starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
