HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The moment NFL fans have been waiting all year for is almost here as Super Bowl Sunday is just a matter of days away from kicking off.

The New England Patriots will take on the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

While this is the first Super Bowl to be played in this specific stadium, it will be the third such Super Bowl to take place in Atlanta. For the Patriots, this will be the team’s ninth Super Bowl appearance since 2002 when New England defeated the St. Louis Rams, 20-17.

Since that 2002 victory, the Patriots have won four more Super Bowls since then. Most recently,. the Patriots went up against the Philadelphia Eagles last year but ultimately lost, 41-33.

As for the Ram,s this is the franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance in 17 years since the aforementioned loss to the Patriots in 2002. The team, once dubbed “The Greatest Show on Turf” has undergone a revival over the last couple of seasons under head coach Sean McVay.

The game will be broadcast live on KGMB Sunday with a 1:30 p.m. Hawaii time kickoff.
